's that video. Listen for that sweet 1st to 2nd shift backfire. You guys can't see the fire but I promise it's there. Below are some issues I have. The first is minor but hilarious. I hit the brakes (I.e. I pulled the ebrake because I haven't adjusted the shoes yet) and the eyelid flew off and got run over:
Then when I parked it, I found out the hard way that the rear main seal is roached, when it lost all of it's oil over night:
So now the engine has to come out for replacement of that seal, and also for pushrod tube replacement.

All cars should shoot flames on gear changes.

Looks like your low on both headlight fluid and elbow grease

I'm low on elbow grease because I don't want to pull the engine. -_-

Don't let my father hear that. He'll go on and on about how beetle engines are the "easiest damn thing to remove since my Johnson called it quits on your mother"

They are, I've just never done it myself so I'm nervous.

Don't be. My step brother pulled his and rebuilt it on the kitchen table once.

Going to watch a Youtube video on pulling the gland nut off the crank. I guess that's the biggest bitch about what I have to do.

Don't worry about getting the engine out, pretty easy. Used to do it myself in less than ten minutes. Just do it safe and have one or more helpers.

I just read him the Riot Act about it

Yeah I think I'm going to pull it myself and outsource the gland nut removal.

You'll have no problem pulling that engine out. Get a friend and you two can get it out in less than an hour.

My biggest fear is getting the gland nut off.
